Professional Learning Communities (PLC)
Teachers at all levels have worked as professional learning communities for the past several years. Principals will continue to organize professional development using the professional learning communities model.
Apple Professional Development
During the initial two years of TL2014, almost 85% of the teaching staff received a program of intense professional development. All learning resources from the professional development are available to all staff on the District Intranet. Professional development resources are classified into the following categories:
- Apple iLife
- Apple iWork
- Challenge-based Learning
- SAMR model of technology integration
During the 2013-14 school year, a third cohort of teachers will receive intense professional development while the firs and second cohorts continue to receive additional support in modifying teaching strategies for optimal use of technology. The core team implementing professional development is the TLC (Computer Technicians, Librarians and Coaches in addition to Principals, Assistant Superintendent and Supervisor of Instructional Practice).
Resources will continue to be shared on the District Intranet as they are developed throughout the 2013-14 school year.
