2nd Grade Social Studies Candy Bar Commercials

by Randy Ziegenfuss

Mr. Eric Molitoris and Mrs. Michaeleen Reinhard, 2nd grade teachers at Western Salisbury Elementary School shared a recent social studies project.

Our social studies unit of study during the month of February was factory production.  As a culminating project, our second graders were given the task of inventing and marketing their very own candy bar.

Technology played an integral part in each step of the project.  The students created text and graphics for their candy bar wrappers on the computer.  Part of the assignment was to write a persuasive paragraph to use as a script for an advertisement.  Flip cameras were used by the students to film their commercials.
