Parent Workshops for February and March Announced!

by Randy Ziegenfuss

With increased access to technology in our elementary schools and a personal laptop computer for all students in grades 6-12, the Salisbury Township School District is eager to work with parents to understand the benefits and challenges of increased access by our students. We invite you to register for any or all of the FREE workshops listed below, open to all K-12 parents and community. About a week prior to the workshop, you will receive a reminder of the date, time and location of the workshop. Thanks for your interest in these workshops! If you have any questions, please contact Randy Ziegenfuss at 610.797.2062.

Mac Basics – Wednesday, February 29 – Administration Building – 1140 Salisbury Road
Do you want to become Mac literate? Do you have questions about what software programs your students are using and how they manage to get around their laptops with such ease? Join us to increase your understanding of the Mac OS and feel more comfortable speaking with your children about the laptop computer.

Internet Safety – Wednesday, March 7 – Administration Building – 1140 Salisbury Road
Think about how technology has changed since you were a student. Technology provides today’s learners with many opportunities, but can also be misused. Parents and schools can work together to protect children. Participants will learn strategies to safeguard identity and monitor technology use.

Social Networking – Wednesday, March 28 – Administration Building – 1140 Salisbury Road
Facebook is changing our lives. How can you protect your children and work with them to use Facebook as a positive tool? Join us to discuss your top questions about Facebook and social networking. The first 10 participants will receive a copy of the book Facebook for Parents. (facebookforparents.org/)
